I know alot of the folks here have installed a CD player on their Valkyries.  I'm trying to get input as to which make and or model has worked out best?  Single or multi tray?  What has been the experience with the unit skipping or do they skip at all?  I also would like to get some advice as to where to mount the unit , under the back, in a saddle bag, or in the travel trunk?  Any help will be appreciated.  I own a 1999 Interstate.  By the way have a very Merry Christmas.

I too have a '99 Interstate, I installed a MP3 player as opposed to a CD player.  It is smaller and will mount right on the handlebars for easy access.  No skipping, don't have to carry CDs and will store 6-8 hrs of music on a single load.  Works great for me.  The other thing to consider if money is not an issue, is getting a hard drive (Dell computers makes one along with several other mfgrs.).  These are nice to catalog your music for easy retreival and playing.  Plus they have about 20+gig of memory.  Nice units but sometimes a little pricey ($200.00+)

I tried several CD and CD/MP3 players.  All of them skipped after a short while.  I gave up and purchased an portable MP3 player.  When I saved my files, I saved them at 28kbps (when I am on my bike, I really cant tell the difference).  At 28kbps I was able to store 160 songs on a 128mb card.  I love that mp3 player.

Under the right side cover, there is a 1/8" stereo jack.  The MP3 player has a 1/8" stereo jack on it as well.  You will need a cable with 1/8" male jacks on both ends (check with Radio Shack).  Connect one end under the right side cover and the other end into the MP3 Player.  On the left side of the radio control box push the button to select "AUX" and what ever you have hooked up into the 1/8" jack under the right side cover will play through the radio controls.  The component that you have hooked up may have its own volume control.  I turned the volume control all the way up on the component, then controlled the volume through the speakers with the radio volume control.

Using an IPod with the FM modulator, you can play your tunes using the FM stereo.  Stash or velcro the IPod in the trunk and use the internal batteries (over 8 hours play time with 3 hour recharge time) or route DC to the trunk and use the car power adapter (you will need to add a lighter socket).  Depending on your  IPod, you have 10, 20, or 40 Gig of storage.  With over 25 minutes of skip protect time, this is a nice alternative to CD or MP3 player as in this configuration, you can use unit in car on trips also.
