Does the AMB (ambience?) make any difference whether on or off?  I read the manual and I think the AMB 'on' is suppose to make closer radio stations clearer and better sounding and the radio stations further away not come in as well.  Has anyone noticed this to be true on their I/S's?  Personally, I don't see a difference, but could be wrong and probably depends on where you live for radio signal strength reception?
I really do like though the speed compensated volume on high though and it works great.  Honda was ahead of their time on this feature.

I believe you have it right.  I do not think it makes a big difference though.  Depends on the stations, power, etc.

I haven't played around with it, but mine is usually on and I haven't noticed a difference.

I know that when we were riding in Canada, we hit a spot where, for at least 100 miles I couldn't pick up any radio stations other than two lame talk shows. There was a brief spot in there in which I couldn't find a single station. Very cool to know we were pretty much in the middle of nowhere.

The auto volume control is nice, but doesn't work if you're using a headset.

I _think_ ambience is so the volume adjusts to the noise of your riding conditions - the faster you go, the louder it gets, and vice-versa.

That's the AVC that you're referring to. The manual says something about ambience enhancing certain sounds from the radio signal to improve sound quality.

Yep, I think AVC stands for Auto Volume Control.

I thought I read something in the manual about AMB being able to pick up weaker signals but not in stereo?
