Just curious how many others have had problems with the under the trunk release not working? I fixed mine by simply running a sheetrock screw in from the inside of the trunk which holds the cable from shifting downwards. I removed the left taillight assembly and could see every time I pulled the handle the cable would rotate down, if I held the cable the latch work unhook just perfectly. So I ran the screw in so it just intersected below the cable and now the latch is fine. On the downside to this repair is I can not lock the trunk. This is fine as I never lock it and doubt I ever will. Not that I trust everyone I just have little worth stealing that I carry there.

I had a problem with the release, so I loosened the latch screws, moved the latch, and then tightened it down again. It works great now.
