(Doesn't apply to you Interstate owners  since you have radiator "pods" Grin )

I believe this has been covered before, but thought I'd bring it up again.

I've been living with my LH plastic chromed radiator side cover being loose for at least a couple of years on my Standard.  It seemed to "hang" there by being attached by the grille.  After a bit of head scratching, I removed the 2 screws that held it to the grill and the side cover fell right off.  Unbeknownst to me, there is a single bolt (#29 in pic below) that attaches these side covers to the radiator and my bolt had backed out over the years.  This bolt is hidden under the reflector.  The bolt was still in a small recessed hole trapped between the cover (#20) and the side reflector (#24).

The reflector is held on with some double sided sticky tape, so I "sawed" it off with some fishing line.  Cleaned off the old sticky tape, put a dab of blue thread lock on the threads and reattached the side cover.  Note, there is also there is also a little metal spacer (#27) that prevents the plastic side cover from cracking when tightening the bolt.  Put some new 3m tape on the reflector and re-installed.

Just thought I'd pass this along since while at the La Crosse Reunion last week in the hotel parking, I found 2 more Valks with loose radiator side covers.  Simple/easy thing to check & fix vs. paying $27+ for a new side cover if they decided to fall off.  If your side covers are "jiggly", then you may need to reattach to the radiator.

Cholla,

I think my '97 STD was one of the ones you wiggled at LSE!  laugh   I ran across this thread and went out and checked the Valk. Yup, the right side was loose. I accessed the bolt, and tightend it about a quarter turn, loose but not falling off. A little double-sided foam tape for the reflector and it's as good as new now. Thanks for the heads up mang.
