Just had a new 205/60/16 installed on my 01 Interstate and I removed the nut cage because of rubbing.  This solved the rubbing until I put the wife on the back to run to the store. The tire started rubbing on the nut itself with both of us on.  Any one had this problem? Is that the reason why they run the shorter 205/55?  If I raise the shocks from the 3 to 5 position, will this solve the problem? By the the way, the wife is a dazzling 135 lbs however I am 6'4" and 300 lbs.

I ALWAYS ran my stock shocks on '5'. I am a bit over 300 lbs.

Thanks Valker.  I will try that to see if that solves the rub.  I may have to go to the shorter 205/55 tire to compensate.

Thanks again

I think that some have reversed the bolt and used a button head or carriage bolt to increase clearance and used an chrome acorn nut if the threaded end was exposed.  http://www.allensfasteners.com/detail.asp?Product_ID=0538+8mm-1.25+X+BUTTON+HEAD+(STAINLESS)

I had to use a carraige bolt.  Very easy to do.  Just remove the bolt as it, and insert a 5/16's carraige bolt of the correct length from the inside.  You will need US thread nuts too.  Put nuts on the outside, chrome if you please.

Problem solved.
