Riding with Progressive straight 412's now and weighing 220 myself but with 2 up even set at 5 it isn't sufficient..

What are any of your thoughts on the differences between the ride of the 412 HD and the 440 HD shocks from those that have them??..

TIA..

..with the Heavy Duty springs. I weight about 300 and the softest setting is just great-with a load and/or passenger, I crank them up a bit. I am very happy with the ride and handling.Cheesy

I weigh in at around 230 & have the 412 Heavy Duties. I run them on the softest setting (#1 ) & the ride is great. I hardly feel expansion joints and other irregularities. I reccomend them highly and they are a lot less than the 440's.

Ride two up with two healthy riders, fully loaded with a setting of 2 1/2 and it's seems to be perfect.  HD Springs too.

Never rode the 412's so can't compare

You can order Progressive shocks in different lengths. I think 13" is standard length, and you can get them in 11".cool

You can purchase Progressive 412's in a lot of different lengths starting from 11" to 13" in half inch increments.  The most popular size is 12.5" because it sets the bike at the stock height.  Stock shocks have a little sag that the progressives don't have.
You can send your shocks to Progressive and they will install HD springs on them for you.....   Cheaper than new shocks if yours are in good condition.

I put on the Progressive 440's and the Progressive fork springs. The combo set-up is great; that's why I did it again on this (my second) Valkyrie Interstate.
I highly recommend the fork springs on the Interstate, as it has the same stock springs as the Standard, and the Tourer, but with considerably more weight on them.

and they are a big improvement over the stock shocks.  I weigh approx 210, and the ride is on the firm side, even on the softest setting, but should be good for two up trips.

I only have about 300 miles on them, maybe they will soften up a bit over time.  I would like to know if anyone has had this experiance.

cstaats, I've got you by about 50lbs. but I put my 440HD's on last fall. I think about August, September, some 12-15Kmi. ago; I haven't noticed any change in the firmness at all.
