Alternator dead on 2000 Valkyrie.
Lat summer the alternator went - would not charge battery - had it repaired at alternator shop ( I think they fixed the stat ) .
Last week alternator breaks again with different problem. This time voltage regulator doesn't regulate and battery overcharges. Need new alternator and new battery and new headlights because of surge. Very expensive.
Anyone having these types of Alternator problems with the 2000 ?

I just had my altenator replaced on my 2000 2 weeks ago.  No problems yet...but I've only got a few hundred miles on this one.  I did notice however, that I can hear an arching sound when I start it.  It almost sounds like something is sparking.  I have to talk to a mechanic this week.  I'm wondering if this might be something similar to what happened to yours.

Recently, I have also heard this arching (?) sound, like a pop sound.  Let us know, Jazzy, if you find out what it is.  If it is something to be conderned about I need to take care of it before my trip out west.
