Anybody have experience with changing to 2-Brothers cams for the Valk?  What difference can you expect?

same question for their Nology wire set for the Valk - ?

I am a "newbie" and have only ridden my first 200 miles on a 2000 tourer  & LOVE IT!!

If I may be so silly as to ask?  You say that you are a newbie, and you love your new Valk; then why are you so interested in changing it?  Just wondering!!!

I'll love it even more!  Can't ever have too much power!

If I could afford it I would consider the Lamont supercharger kit.

The power is great as is, and I don't plan anything extreme for now - but I have ordered MarkT exhaust - and I am considering the "trigger" wheel addition.  But I would like to hear from some experienced folks - like yourself regarding use of the "trigger" wheel to advance timing 6 degrees.

One of my first bikes was a Kawasaki triple rice burner that I ran at the drag strip in Hawaii - I was stationed there after being part of the troops pulled out of Viet Nam.  I have always enjoyed "going fast" - but I don't do it nearly as much now that I'm 54 - as I did many years ago!

I do appreciate riding without having to "tinker" and without having to worry about dependability.

I installed a 6 degree trigger wheel very shortly after I purchased my 98 standard used in 2001.  I honestly can't tell you it made a difference.  I have been tempted to put the stock one back in to see if I can tell a difference now that i've ridden about 10000 miles with the trigger wheel in.  I guess I don't care enough to go through the hassle.  At least not yet.  I've also ready there are differences in the trigger wheels depending on the manufacture.  In any case, my Valk goes faster than I should go already.  Just enjoy.

You had  a Kawasaki triple?  What flavor 500cc, or 750cc?  Inquiring minds want to know?

I had the 500cc triple - custom painted - it was a "ring-a-dinger" for sure  (haha).  It was fast for a small bike - ran in the mid to high 12's!

I was young and foolish then (now I'm old and foolish with no excuse)- when it came time to leave Hawaii - I left 6 speeding tickets in a one month period!  I attribute it to Post Viet-Nam stress!

Heck - I don't think I've gotten six tickets in all the years since then!!

Don't waste the time or money on the 2 bro's cams. They suck.
I have been all down this road with 2 Valks. One was ridden all the time except for the time it was apart and it was money and time wasted when the money and time should have been spent on motels, food and gas. This lesson learned the hard way.

The other was a purpose built bike and was sold before I lost any money in it but with twin turbos it was a bad ass ride.

If you really want your bike to make some great power at the best price and get the most out of it put on a Lamonster blower, port the heads and use the gear set that lamont can also get to take advantage of all that new low end grunt the blower adds but don't get your head to swelled because a RC51 is still going to kick you to the curb.

One of the best things I ever did was buy a Valk and one of the dumbest things I ever did was trying to make it faster. Its great just like it is and if you need more speed just buy a rocket bike to keep the Valk from getting lonely out in the garage. Just talking from lots of experiance here.

The next best thing I ever did as far as Valks are concerned is I had lots of cash tied up in my Orange Crate Valk with add ons and paint not to mention all the performace stuff (yikes!) but it had become a great looking frankenstien bike but I started to worry about long term reliability so I went out and bought a almost new (few hundred miles) bike and stripped it down to the drive train and frame the did the same to the Orange Crate bike. I put all my stuff on the new virgin bike and all the new bike stuff on the Orange Crate bike. I ended up with what is basicly the same Orange Crate bike but in total stock mechanical form. Most people still think its the same bike and except for the drivetrain and frame it is the same. A good friend bought the other bike and loves it.

I would have been much better off to leave well enough alone because i really enjoy the stock bike and as hard as it has been the Valve covers have yet to be removed in the 16K it now has on it. Gas has been the best preformance item spent on this #3 bike.

The next time I get a notion to go fast on a bike I think I will buy a new ST1300 and be money ahead and have two great bikes. BR

I like your advice - I just may take it !   It's terrible to be obsessive about those kind of things.  Lots to be said for just enjoying it as it is!

Thank for sharing your thoughts etc. !
