Just wondering what the average age of the dragon riders might be? I am 29 and coming off sport bikes. Also I know this is been done to death but is 10,000 mile decent on a used bike?

well, i don't consider myself "average" but i'm 59yrs going on 12. 10K isn't bad as long as it was properly maintained (check service records)

Well I'm This[] close to 50, but I feel like 20 when I'm on the Valk. Plus I'm on my 2nd Valk and it had 15,000 miles when I got it. Honda's are good for 150,000+ so your's isn't even broke in yet.

I wasnt suggesting one way or the other as for ages, I have met bikers of all ages riding everthing from 60 year old men riding rice rockets, to newbies buying Wings. I have been fasinated with the big bikes since my neighbor bought a then new 1982 GL So when the Valk came out I knew I had to have one so I am furiously looking to bad they discontinued them. But I have a few leads on some good priced used ones under 10K miles. Plus the reason I brought up the age question is I want to know what kind of crowd I am going to meet up with. My wife already is picking out helmets and she like the 98 Blue and Cream standard. SO maybe Christmas will come early.

As far as mileage goes, this bike is one of the most reliable, longest lasting out there. I have 62,000 on mine so far and expect 250,000 without major problems. On this bike, I have gone more than 10,000 miles on a single oil change (Mobil1 MX4T). Unless your bike has been used exclusively for drag racing or off road racing, it is just now thinking about being broken in.;) I like sport bikes, but they just aren't comfortable enough for the kind of trips I like to take. I drag race my Valk, I do track days on my Valk, and I've been known to off road it quite a bit. I love this bike!!:)

Got to love the Valk, and this group. These members take the time to help all with a question have safe and enjoyable Valk experiences. And these f6's seem to be real tough machines to break, although not so hard to tip over if you dont pay attention. Best advice is to follow Valkers lead and lube, lube lube When I bought my first car, a 57 olds from the original owner, he told me" Son, lubrication is the key to life whether car or whatever" Good advice then good advice now. And like the 57, the bike will get you home no matter what. Hope you find the Valk of your dreams. Me, Im going back out to the garage to look at mine before I call it a night, maybe I will be able to ride it soon if the damn snow ever stops. My bro lives in Owings Mills, is that anywhere near where you are at? evan

I will turn 33 in March.
I bought my Valk in June, 2001. It is my 3rd street bike. I bought my first street bike (1977 Kawasaki KZ1000) when I was 20. When I was 24, I bought a new 1994 Suzuki RF900RR sportbike, which I sold in 1998.
I wouldn't be afraid of a Valk with 10,000 miles. It is a bike built to be ridden. So finding one with much less is going to be getting more and more difficult. Plus, it is very reliable and has a proven track record for long life. They are practically bullet proof with minimal maintenance.

I'll be getting my first Social Security retirement check in May. For those of you to young to have thought about this, I'm almost 62. My new 2003 Valk has 400 miles on it. May hit 45 degrees today so I'll probably put a few more on it today.
I think this is the 10th bike I have owned since about 1966. I have a 1500 Kawasaki Vulcan sitting in the garage next to the Valk. I have put 15,600 miles on it since I bought it new 2 years ago. Because I have kept it well maintained I am going to sell it to my Son-In-Law and have no worries about it breaking on him anytime soon.
BTW, after only 400 miles I like the big F-6 so well that it may be my last. I figure I can get 100,000 on it before I'm 75.

I'll be 46 next month, just bought a 2003 last week. haven't put a mile on it yet but as soon as the roads are dry I'll be takin' her out at least a little (Brrrrr). Don't know where you are in MD but you might try Planet Honda in Chadds Ford,PA. Also, a dealer in WV on the other side of Hagerstown,MD gave me the best price, but I opted for just a little more closer to home. Good luck.

59 and no longer counting. I just hope my second childhood is as good as the first (which I am far from thru with). Miz Wiz and I were never blessed with kids but she says it's OK cause she's had her hands full trying to get me raised up. 98 tourer, bought her brand new and she now has 93,000+ miles on her and I wouldn't think twice about jumping on her and heading out on another cross country trip (OK, I might change the oil first). So, a Valk with 10,000 miles, practically brand new. Go for it. Incidentally DDT, a Florida rider, for a fact has over 230,000 miles on his with no major repairs. See ya on the road.
