fog lights

My 2001 I/s has honda fog lights which are in the pods.
Reading the light bar post has me wondering if these lights are 35 or 50 watt or something else I cant find the specs.
Also after looking over the starter button thread I decided to see if the lights went out when I press the starter. I think I read how lights cut off when we press the starter but the fog lights do not go out while the button is pressed. I have a separate power switch on the back of the pod for the fog lights.
Does this mean a relay is missing? Should I leave well enough alone and go back to waxing the bike some more?
Maybe someone knows the answers?    :worship:
Temps going to single digits tonite, I bought some toe warmers at the ski shop for the boots in case it gets up to 20 degrees this weekend so I can beat up on some hogs .. if they run at that temperature

Well your headlights should go out when you press the starter button, but whether or not your fog lights do the same depends entirely on how they were wired in.
I haven't checked to see if my fog lights go off or not. The Honda dealer installed mine. I'll have to check to see when I get back home, and let you know.

That's a good question... I have them on my interstate also.. but never noticed.  I know there was a relay on the system when installed but since it connects to an alreay wire harness on the bike I don't know if they shut off or not.

Another question.... Where would you find replacement bulbs.  Do you have to replace the entire lamp or is there a bulb inside?

Good to read your reply, I live in Lawrenceville, GA.  Not far from you.  I too, have an Interstate, mine is a '99.  Did you install the lights in the pods yourself or did you have it done?  I am considering the lights on my bike, and I'm debating wheather to tackle the job myself or go to Honda.  Email me sometime at slzigler@yahoo.com maybe we can get together and compare notes.

I found an instruction booklet that I can fax or mail to you
It mentions 35 watt bulbs
I don't know if I can put larger ones in on the system as configured?

My fog lights were already installed on this bike when I got it. One of my friends, and a fellow VERMIN member bought them, and installed them himself. He says that the pods are already marked, where to cut them, and that it was an easy install.

Your I/S pod lights if you bought them from Honda or a dealer are 35W.

They can be upgraded to 50W, but you need to change the wiring and make SURE, they go off when the starter button is pushed........

I have a tourer and changed mine out on the Cobra lightbar with very little pain.  BUT, I had wired it to handle 50's when I installed it...........:explode:
